The Dolomiti Golf Club is located in the quiet town of Sarnonico in the “Alta Val di Non”. Known as one of the toughest 18-hole courses in the Dolomites Mountains, it offers a challenging yet rewarding experience to golfers of all levels. Surrounded by the breathtaking Dolomites and Maddalene mountain range, the course provides stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect place to enjoy the game while taking in the beauty of nature.
Each hole at the Dolomiti Golf Club is framed by breathtaking alpine views. The first nine holes wind through a peaceful pine forest, with the snow-capped peaks of the Brenta mountain range providing a stunning backdrop. The remaining nine holes offer panoramic views of charming villages surrounding the course. On the 12th hole, you can spot Cavareno; the 13th reveals Sarnonico; the 14th overlooks Fondo; and from the 16th, you can admire the impressive church bell tower of Seio di Sarnonico. In the distance, the Palade pass rises, adding a touch of elegance to the scenic view.
The golf course itself is both spectacular and challenging, with wide, well-maintained fairways. The greens are skillfully designed and surrounded by deep, tricky bunkers and reflective water hazards. It offers a technical challenge for golfers of all skill levels, including the most experienced players. Covering over 120 acres, the course features an 18-hole layout, a four-hole executive course, a driving range, as well as putting, pitching, and chipping greens.
HISTORY
From the early 20th century, the noble House of Augsburg cherished the picturesque mountains and valleys of the Upper Val di Non. Their appreciation was reflected in the number of estates built on the slopes of Mount Roen, many of which were dedicated to tourism. In 1920, a nine-hole golf course was established, seamlessly blending with the natural beauty and way of life of the region’s residents. Decades later, in the late 1980s, the municipality of Sarnonico revitalized the golfing tradition, once again offering residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the sport.
By 1991, from March through November, players competed on the nine-hole course or honed their skills on the four-hole executive course, preparing for memorable competitions. The facilities continued to evolve, and in 2008, a welcoming clubhouse was added, featuring seven comfortable rooms for guests. Nestled between the breathtaking Brenta Dolomites to the south and the majestic Maddalene mountain range to the west, the course offers a tranquil yet invigorating experience for golfers and nature lovers alike.
With the growing popularity of golf, the course became one of Val di Non’s premier attractions. In September 2003, a second set of nine holes was introduced, designed by renowned international architect Michel Niebdala in collaboration with Luca Borzaga. This expansion transformed the course into a full-fledged 18-hole championship venue, offering diverse challenges that cater to both precision and skill.
